How to Make a Girl's Dress Without Lining
How to Make a Girl's Dress Without Lining
Sewing your own long prom dresses saves money and allows you to maintain complete creative control over the style and fabric. You can create a dress that fits you perfectly since it is designed with your proportions in mind. Making a dress without a lining simplifies the process and allows you to complete your outfit in less time and with less fabric.
Instructions
1. Spread 3 to 4 yards of fabric out on a flat work surface. Place the pieces of the pattern paper on top of the fabric. Position the pattern pieces so that they do not overlap.
2. Pin the pieces of paper to the fabric around the circumference of each pattern section. Keep the pins on the inside edge of the pattern so that they won't interfere when you can cut around the paper.
3. Cut out the pattern pieces with your scissors. Remove the pins and discard the paper pattern or save it for a second use. Follow the pattern's instructions on which pieces should be sewn together and in what order you should sew them.
4. Sew together the pieces of the pattern using a sewing machine. Sew the prom dresses 2013 while it is inside out, and sew the seams on the portion of the fabric that you do not want to be visible. When you turn the dress right-side out, the seams will be hidden.
5. Sew trim on the waist, sleeves or hem of the designer prom dresses 2013 using 1/2 yard of contrasting fabric. Snip off dangling strings. Try on the dress and make any necessary alternations to the fit, such as shortening the hem.
